DDC ProductsProducts and Specifications

DDC relies on industry experts such as National Oilwell Varco and General Electric to provide the latest technology in positive displacement motors as well as MWD and Gamma technology. As improved products are introduced the tool fleet can be cost-effectively upgraded to offer DDC customers the best of both new technology and value.

Product reliability is as much a result of meticulous tool service as it is design. DDC puts every mud motor, MWD/Gamma and downhole tool through a complete service cycle when it comes in from a job. Strict component replacement criteria are adhered to by DDC’s service specialists. Each tool and all component parts are inspected and service tested before ever leaving the shop.

Directional Mud Motors

DDC carries a full range of tool sizes from 3 ¾ inches OD through to 7 ¾ inches OD with 4/5 to 7/8 lobe configurations in 2.2 to seven stages. This enables DDC coordinators to specify the right motor for the project with regard to hole size, displacement objectives, available pump capabilities and fluid properties. This range of directional motors enables DDC to specialize in hole sizes ranging from 4 ¾ inches through 12 ¼ inches. <more>

Measurement-While-Drilling (MWD)

DDC MWD units utilize a modular tool design to facilitate ease of transportation by land, sea or air and handling at the rig site as well. Tool OD is 1.88 inches diameter and 24 feet long with a single battery pack or 31 feet with a dual battery pack. The system is operational in a temperature range up to 175°C (347°F). The modular design also enables the use of system components in non-mag drill collars ranging from 3 ½ inch to 8 inch diameter simply by installing the appropriate OD fins or bowsprings. <more>

Gamma Logging Module

The gamma module is a high-efficiency natural radiation detector that transmits an inverted pulse train with a repetition rate proportional to the amount of detected naturally occurring gamma radiation. With this data, geologists can readily identify “markers” or boundaries to help establish targets and recommend course corrections. DDC operates a fully equipped MWD/Gamma repair facility where all service work and testing is done by qualified service technicians. Gamma can be added to the MWD system as a component making the overall length of the MWD/Gamma assembly 34 feet with the second battery pack. <more>

Steering Tool

DDC offers electric wireline operated steering tool systems designed to deliver accurate and instantaneous survey and wellbore telemetry information to surface. Steering tool guidance systems can withstand higher temperatures (190°C / 375°F) than conventional MWD and are well suited for hot hole or applications where air, foam or mist systems are being used. <more>
